In 2005, Maclay began varsity competition in Lacrosse, four years after picking it up as up as a club sport.
In 2006, team Captains Kyle Jones, Ryan Kelly, and Chase Smith guided the team to an 8 and 4 record. Chase Smith's 29 goals and 16 assists, along with the stubborn defense of Noah Rosenblum and the leadership of MVP Kyle Jones, allowed the team to score 107 goals to their opponents 59, improving to a 9:5 average ratio. Midfielder, Kyle Jones, and attackman, Chase Smith, were selected first team All-District players for the season. In 2007, the Marauders continued to improve. Team Captains Noah Rosenblum, Chase Smith, Jeff Greenberg, and Travis Barnes lead the team to an 11-6 record. Maclay won its first district title, and then a play-in game for a birth in the regional playoffs. As the eighth seed in the regionals, Maclay played a tough game against the number one seed Winter Park Wildcats. Down 5-3 at half, Maclay lost 11-4. Winter Park went on to win the Central Florida Regional Championship. During the season, Maclay scored 168 goals, while allowing only 104 goals against. In 2007, Chase Smith repeated as a first team All-District player, and he was nominated as a high school All-American. Jordan Cavanaugh, Court Roberts, and Noah Rosenblum were also selected first team All-District players for the season. Jeff Greenberg, Neal Little, and Matt Bristol, were selected second team All-District players for the season. Maclay began the 2008 season with a loss to Bartram Trails. Significant about this game was that it was played with only 15 players for Maclay and only one senior. Maclay hosted the inaugural Governor's Cup Tournament. Although the event was a huge success, the Marauders placed third, having lost to Episcopal. The team then won their next five (5) games. In the fourth game of the season, the team captured its second shut out ever and the first by a single goalie (Ethan Rosenblum). Kristopher Hook followed with a solo shut out against Lincoln. The winning streak ended against sixth ranked Mantanzas. The loss was followed by 10 straight wins and a ranking of 13th in the state and both the regular season and District 1B Central playoff championship. The successful season ended with a loss to the talented and physical Panthers of Nease High School in the Region Quarter-Final.
